The LinguaNegra Collective brings together educators, researchers, scholars, and supporters who believe language is legacy. We explore how español, français, português—and beyond—live in Black experiences across the diaspora. Rooted in culturally sustainable practices, we build a Beloved Language Community that affirms, documents, and expands Black multilingual realities for generations to come.
We know that language is more than grammar and vocabulary—it’s memoria, it’s résistance, it’s futuro. For too long, Black voices have been silenced or erased in conversations about multilingualism. But here, in the LinguaNegra Collective, we center them.

This space is for educators, researchers, scholars, and community supporters who believe in the power of a Beloved Language Community. Together, we explore how español, français, português—and beyond—live inside Black experiences across the diaspora. We ask critical questions, share transformative practices, and build knowledge that honors our people.

Our mission is simple but urgent: to affirm, document, and expand Black multilingual realities. Whether in classrooms, community spaces, or scholarly work, we are committed to culturally sustainable, liberatory approaches to language learning and teaching.

If you believe language is legacy, and that Black families, students, and communities deserve access to that legacy, then the LinguaNegra Collective is for you.
