Family, let’s keep it real. Too often, we’ve been told that learning another language isn’t for us. That somehow Black children can’t, or shouldn’t, step into the world speaking más de un idioma, plus d’une langue, mais também outra língua.
But the truth? We’ve always been multilingual people. From the rhythms of Africa to the sounds of the Caribbean to the voices in our own neighborhoods, we carry languages in our DNA.
